My Story
Negin Asgharihosseinpour holds a Master's degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Milan. She completed her master's thesis at the FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM) in Milan. She then moved to Germany for PhD studies, which she started in March 2022.
The project on which Negin Asgharihosseinpour is working revolves around ribosomally produced and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs) that are, a rapidly developing class of natural products, have a wide range of bioactive activities, including antibacterial, antiviral, and anticancer activity.
The focus of the project is on Lasso peptides which are distinct from other RiPPs because of their rotaxane structure. She is currently conducting in-depth structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies on different lasso peptides utilizing Escherichia coli as a heterologous expression host.
