Marc Stierhof

Postdoctoral researcher

Marc

Marc received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Regensburg, Germany, in 2015. In the same year, he went abroad to attend a research project in the group of Professor Marcel Jaspars from the University of Aberdeen, identifying new natural products produced by organisms from the marine environment.

After finishing his master’s degree in 2017 he started his PhD in the AMEG group working on the identification (dereplication), isolation and de novo structure elucidation of new natural products from Streptomyces.

Another part of his work is to explore biosynthetic gene clusters involved in the biosynthesis of newly discovered compounds and characterize gene functions to determine new biosynthetic pathways.

He is a passionate researcher and plays guitar in his band “Full Armored Beast” which encourages him sometimes to combine research with music.
