Claas studied Molecular Biology at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, receiving his B.Sc. in late 2021. While working on his thesis at the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research, he contributed to the establishment of a novel transcriptional recording technique using reprogrammed tracrRNAs combined with a Cas9 base editor.

 

During his master’s in molecular biology, he has chosen bioengineering as his major field of study, joining Prof. Dr. Andriy Luzhetskyy’s group to write his thesis in metabolic engineering.

 

Currently, he is working on increasing the abundance of short-chain CoA thioesters and establishing the necessary LC MS/MS measuring method.
